Thursday night of ‘The New Write Nights’ will be a night with a difference. We bring you a night of spoken word and poetry, with some of the best poets from Bedford and beyond taking part!
Ian McEwen’s pamphlet The Stammering Man was a winner in the Templar
competition 2010 and he was highly commended in the national poetry
competition 2011. His first full collection will be published by Cinnamon
Press in 2013. He is a member of the Magma poetry board, lives in Bedford
and promotes the Ouse Muse open mic.
Ouse Muse grew from the Bedford Book Festival open mic in 2011. It is now a
regular monthly event which welcomes poets of all types and standards, and
some short prose as well. This is the first time the Ouse Muse gang have
taken to the stage as a coalition of the rhyming – will there be another?
YOU DECIDE.
Martin Figura is a photographer, poet, retired Army Major and works part-time for Writers’ Centre, Norwich and he runs Café Writers. Whistle was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award and he won the 2010 Hamish Canham Prize. Boring The Arse Off Young People (Nasty Little Press) came out in 2010.
The spoken word night is on November 29th at The Place theatre at 7.30pm.
